Traditional Archery - 2026 Fall Fundamentals: Sept 9 - Oct 21 (7 weeks) Harrison Parks & Recreation is again offering traditional archery lessons for kids and adults via Crooked Creek Archery!
Archery offers significant physical and mental benefits, acting as a full-body workout that builds upper body strength (arms, back, shoulders, & core) while improving hand-eye coordination, balance, and focus. Mentally, it promotes relaxation, mindfulness, stress relief, and confidence through achieving goals and mastering a skill, while also fostering patience, persistence, and social connection. It is truly a lifetime recreational pursuit that people of all ages can enjoy together.
Crooked Creek Archery instructors Kimberly Fulton and Kas Skaggs have a combined 25+ years of experience teaching archery to kids, families, and adults. They specialize in recreational target and 3D archery; their classes are a great starting point for learning (or re-learning) the basics of the sport. Both have reached certified Level 2 instructor status with USA Archery, the sport's national governing body for Olympic competition.
ADULTS 18+: Sign up for our Sept 23-Oct 28 adult class via UA Northark's Community Education department. It's held on Wednesday nights at the Youth Center (after our kids' classes).
KIDS 8-13: We have two Fall Fundamentals classes (suitable for beginners or returning students) as well as a special 5-week Fantastic Fling at the end of the semester especially for those who have already completed at least one Crooked Creek Archery class.
TEENS 14-17: Email us at crookedcreekarchers@gmail.com and let us know you're interested and when you're available! We'd love to host a teen class.
*NOTE: Returning students are very welcome to retake Fundamentals again this fall to further improve their skills, but we warmly suggest the special five-week Furious Fling at the end of the semester for anyone who has completed at least one class by that time.
(We are also available for private lessons, birthday parties and other special events, particularly those at the Brandon Burlsworth Youth Center. Contact crookedcreekarchers@hotmail.com for information about private events like these.)
